You will often see people telling their friends and family that they are finally going on a diet and fully intend to lose a lot of weight and hit their targets. However things rarely work out like that, and even if they do lose weight, they will often put it right back on again at some point.
It doesn't really matter what diet you go on whether it's the Atkins diet, the raw food diet or simply a basic low calorie diet. The reality is that you are unlikely to hit your weight loss targets and maintain your new weight simply through your diet alone.
Unfortunately most people do not have the willpower to stick to a diet for very long, even if they are happy with their new weight. Eventually there will come a time when they get fed up eating healthy low calorie foods all the time, and instead want to eat tasty food that they can actually enjoy such as pizza and chocolate.
